    • Ping Siang, having been inspired by his elder brother's competitive freestyle skating in the 2000s, grew up fascinated by the grace and fluidity of the skaters he watched in competition videos. At the age of ten, his parents gifted him a pair of inline skates from the now-defunct Carrefour shopping megastore, sparking his skating journey. Though he faced initial struggles and falls, Ping Siang's determination led him to train with the national team of skaters, gradually improving his skills. Ms Shirley Tay, a prominent figure in the development of rollersports in Singapore, recognized Ping Siang's potential and generously sponsored his first competition in Penang, Malaysia. This marked the beginning of a lifestyle centered around training, competing, and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow skaters. Throughout the years, he achieved multiple medals within the ASEAN region and secured strong rankings globally, making it some of the best moments of his life pursuing his dreams. In 2017, after witnessing an old Freestyle teammate and current Speed teammate, Ryan Chua, venture into competitive speed-skating, Ping Siang decided to explore this domain of rollersports as well. He fell in love with the sport, enjoying the thrill of longer races. Alongside a fellow skater, they trained tirelessly throughout their National Service, witnessing the competitive speed-skating community grow in size. Despite the lack of access to a banked track, they made the most of any available location, from carparks to running tracks, for training. In 2021, their dedication paid off when they received news that speed-skating made it to the list of sports for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic, they faced challenges in traveling overseas for training and official track timings. Nevertheless, they traveled to Germany under the earliest Vaccinated Travel Lanes, and against the odds, managed to qualify for the Games. Now, the team faces the opportunity to shine in the Asian Games, motivated to remain steadfast and passionate in their trainings. With determination and Godspeed, they embark on this thrilling journey."
