Marc Brian Louis: Race Against the Clock

I endured a long, anxious wait for a starting berth at the Paris Olympic Games. When the confirmation finally came, there was a lot of relief – and not much time left. In fact, I was given barely three weeks to prepare for a race many spend their entire careers gearing up for. Things suddenly became very real, very fast.

But in many ways, I had always been ready. From the moment I rewrote a 22-year 100m national record, chasing more history became even more of a pursuit. In my case, I never saw an Olympic dream as a fantasy that was too big to achieve. It’s always been about treating every race the same – high stakes or not.

So as I line up for the biggest 10 seconds of my career, I’m doing so with the confidence that I have more to give. At the starting blocks, my dreams will take flight.
